Consp!re Issue 5 is here!

Hello friends and lovers,

As some of you know, we are co-conspirators in a little project known as Consp!re. This is an exciting and collaborative effort in which communities of Christ-followers from all over contribute to the formation of a quarterly journal.

Issue 5 of this publication, "Path and Place," has just arrived at our door.

If you would like a copy of this publication, or even a copy of issues 2, 3, or 4, feel free to stop in for a visit. If you are unable to visit, or if you live too far from us, drop us a line. We'd be happy to get them to you!

Much of this material is being made available online as well, at the Consp!re website.

Creating a Community Park

OUR GOAL is to acquire the abandoned lot next door the Mulberry House and transform it into a lush community garden!

To the west of the Mulberry House, right next door to us, stands an empty, abandoned lot. The owner has not kept up the property, and we have discovered that in JUNE 2010, the city will put this land up for auction.

This is an opportunity that we cannot pass up!

Imagine, in a neighborhood that has long since been forgotten by the rest of an upwardly mobile society, a group of brave men and women banding together to breathe new life into a shattered space.

We plan to take an empty, blighted piece of land and redeem the space so it may be shared by all in our community. We plan to develop the land, adding beautiful plants, some benches and picnic tables, and maybe even some recreational features.

This land is broken into four parcels. The minimum bid is comprised of payment of back taxes and court costs.

We project the cost of all the land to be somewhere around $6500. The dollar amount sounds daunting to a small group of guys, but with God all things are possible.

Between now and JUNE 1st, it is our goal to raise $6000-7000 to go toward the acquisition of this land.
